Hoop pine plywood cabinetry at boonah

Published on July 13, 2013 by in Kitchens, Ward Robes

Last year I was contracted to supply and install cabinetry out at Boonah for Shaun Lockyer Architects The project consisted of a kitchen, laundry, wash closet, 2 shaving cabinets, hallway linen, window seat and 3 built in robes. The whole project incorporated a lot of hoop pine plywood finished with exposed edges and 2pac clear satin lacquer, along with Laminex polar white melamine surfaces and Quantum Quartz Polar 2omm stone tops. With the island benchtops I had to “finger join” the main top into the waterfall ends whilst allowing the stone to fit seamlessly into the sink area. This was a very fun project to do, and as always I enjoy working on Shaun’s designs as he has a great team of designers that set the bar at levels to make one stretch to achieve them. I was unable to get photos of everything, but the one I do have

Custom bookcase

Published on July 13, 2013 by in Furniture

Earlier this year I was asked to supply and install a bookcase for a customer who found me at the March Homeshow. I supplied this in a 33mm thick raw mdf finish so that the client could paint it the same as the wall colours they had used. They originally sent me a photo of something similar to what they wanted, so that I could design it around this. Being that its a 5mtr long bookcase it had to be fully constructed on site, which had its own difficulties due to being in a 2nd floor apartment. The 2 photos show the bookcase in its installed raw finish, and then once the client had finished painting it, stacked full of books.

L-Shape Display Kitchen

Published on July 11, 2013 by in Kitchens

I’ve just finished changing everything over on my original L-Shape display kitchen at the showroom. The layout has stayed the same, but the overall look and hardware has been changed. The Colours in the kitchen now are Flexpanel Latte Fineline horizontal grain to the base cabinets, Flexpanel Kenya Fineline horizontal grain to the overheads, Quantum Quartz Empire Quartz. The handles have stayed the same with the Moreton Stainless Steel handles I have added in a 450mm Lemans to the blind corner now, due to the old Smart corner system being discontinued now. With the overheads, I have changed the doors to have a Blum HF Aventos lift mechanism on the rangehood cabinet and a Blum HS Aventos lift mechanism on the right hand overhead. Both overheads now come with servo drive to them as well, for touch to open and close functionality. As to appliances and accessories, I have now

Trophy Cabinet

Published on May 29, 2013 by in Furniture

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted an update, so thought I’d best post something new. Yesterday we installed a trophy cabinet for Jimboomba Thunder Football Club. We used Flexpanel Latte Fineline as the melamine fronts and open shelves, all working with sliding door tracks and locks.

Custom Kitchen, Laundry, Office and Furniture

Mid 2012 a client that I had met at the Courier mail home show that I display at annually asked me to custom design their kitchen, laundry, office, dining room and living room furniture. We came up with using a flat panel with bevelled edge look to all the doors and drawers throughout the living room, kitchen and dining room, and we used Flexpanel Designer white sheen 1mm pvc edge doors to the laundry and office along with Laminex pure mineral stone diamond gloss postformed tops. On the furniture we went with low iron glass fit into a 2pac benchtop. The kitchen also had 40mm quantum quartz tops and glass splash backs. Hardware used was Blum white tandembox drawers, blum hinges with blumotion, LED strip lighting to the kitchen with LED downlights in the overheads and 228mm handles. The coffee table was a design I came up with after offering

2pac custom designed kitchen in logan village

Published on February 23, 2013 by in Kitchens

Back in September 2012, I was asked to design and install a kitchen for a client in Logan village, who also happen to be part of the Jimboomba Thunder Football Club that I sponsor. The kitchen design from the outset required having a central brick wall removed from the house, a return brick wall plastered up and some modifications made to the windows to work with increased bench height that I had designed into the kitchen. We finished all the doors and panels in a designer white gloss 2pac, with aluminium finger pull handles fitted into the top of every drawer. We also made use of Blum’s tipon for the pantry doors to allow for no handles, along with Blums metabox with blumotion and tandembox drawers to all the cabinets. Along with the extra thick stone tops and the red glass splash backs, I’m sure you will fine the design

Custom Designed Vanity in Greenbank

Published on November 25, 2012 by in Vanities

My client from greenbank sent over some photos of their vanity that I had recently installed for them. As you can see from the photos the whole look has turned out very good and definitely makes the Ensuite renovation worth the effort. I have used Laminex New Graphite for the doors and tops in a horizantal grain pattern which meant having to align all the components on the sheet before machining them, to ensure the grain lined up all the way through. With the addition of Grass nova pro softclose drawer runners, blumotion softclose to the hinges, a large narrow drawer for use as a clothes hamper, hafele yarra # 8 handles in a stainless steel finish and a door mounted bin to finish off the accessories, this vanity is very functional. The only real complication was having to make the upper drawers wrap around the basins sink wastes, which

2pac Custom coffee table now finished

Published on November 18, 2012 by in Furniture

I’ve been meaning to post this for a few weeks now. The two pac custom coffee table that Jacob and I were making for a client is now been supplied to them. The finishes were 2pac 100% gloss white, 50mm high aluminium adjustable feet and low iron clear glass insert. The customers are very happy with the final product and as you will see in the photos, it works well with the 2pac entertainment unit that I supplied at the same time.

Custom designed 2pac coffee table

Published on September 21, 2012 by in General

So this week, one of the jobs I have to make is a custom designed coffee table to compliment an entertainment unit that I’m making for a customer along with a heap of other stuff. After getting all the preparation work completed this morning, I thought to myself this is something that could have progress photo potential for my blog. Which in turn lead to me taking these pics. At this stage it’s taken me and Jacob my apprentice around 4 hours to fully prepare the legs, base and rails. We have had to mark out where all the components need to be routered first. The best thing about this is I don’t have the big machines that most work shops would use, so I use a table I whipped together years ago and mounted my plunge router under it. Then with the use of fixing boards in different positions,
